چکیده

We study the asymptotic behavior of P(X − Y > u) as u → ∞, where X is subexponential, Y is positive and the random variables X,Y may be dependent. We give criteria under which the subtraction of Y does not change the tail behavior of X. It is also studied under which conditions the comonotonic copula represents the worst-case scenario for the asymptotic behavior in the sense of minimizing the tail of X − Y , and an explicit construction of the worst-case copula is provided in the other cases.

Subexponential Asymptotics of a Network Multiplexer

For a Markov-modulated random walk with negative drift and long-tailed right tail we prove that the ascending ladder height matrix distribution is asymptotically proportional to a long-tailed distribution. This result enable us to generalize a recent result on subexponential asymptotics of a Markov-modulated M/G/1 queue to subexponential asymptotics of a Markov-modulated G/G/1 queue. For a clas...

Tail asymptotics for the queue length in an M/G/1 retrial queue

In this paper, we study the tail behavior of the stationary queue length of an M/G/1 retrial queue. We show that the subexponential tail of the stationary queue length of an M/G/1 retrial queue is determined by that of the corresponding M/G/1 queue, and hence the stationary queue length in an M/G/1 retrial queue is subexponential if the stationary queue length in the corresponding M/G/1 queue i...

Asymptotics of Closed Fork and Join Queues with Subexponential Service Times

We consider a closed fork and join queueing network where several lines feed a single assembly station. Under the assumption that at least one service time distribution is subexponential, we obtain the tail asymptotics of transient cycle times and waiting times. We also discuss under which conditions these results can be generalized to the tail asymptotics of stationary cycle times and waiting ...

Tail Asymptotics for Cumulative Processes Sampled at Heavy-tailed Random times with Applications to Queueing Models in Markovian Environments

This paper considers the tail asymptotics for a cumulative process {B(t); t ≥ 0} sampled at a heavy-tailed random time T . The main contribution of this paper is to establish several sufficient conditions for the asymptotic equality P(B(T ) > bx) ∼ P(M(T ) > bx) ∼ P(T > x) as x → ∞, where M(t) = sup0≤u≤t B(u) and b is a certain positive constant. The main results of this paper can be used to ob...

Ruin Probabilities for Risk Processes with Non-stationary Arrivals and Subexponential Claims

In this paper, we obtain the finite-horizon and infinite-horizon ruin probability asymptotics for risk processes with claims of subexponential tails for non-stationary arrival processes that satisfy a large deviation principle. As a result, the arrival process can be dependent, non-stationary and nonrenewal. We give three examples of non-stationary and non-renewal point processes: Hawkes proces...
